I LOVE YOU

“I love you” … “I love you, brother,” “I love you, sister…”. This phrase has been thrown out there very easily and all the time but when we do that without real meaning, Jesus would consider it as service lip (Mark 7:6) because even if we say it, our hearts are distant from the reality. If you do just say, “I love you,” without loving as Jesus loves people, what you are saying is in vain. The same thing we do to people, we do to Jesus, telling Him, “I love you, Jesus,” but we don’t obey Him. Just lip service. In this writing, God will show us the depths and also some revealing truths about the Word of God. As you continue to read this you will be amazed at our Lord.

As we read Matthew 22:32-40, we see a group that was astonished at the doctrine of Jesus, but others got offended at His word. They were jealous of Him. Jesus always showed us that it is impossible to do anything that is holy like loving Him and loving people – which means to obey the great commandment - without surrendering our minds, thoughts, and hearts to Him and to the Holy Spirit. We can’t obey the first and the second commandments without His help. Why did He talk about love? He could have talked about the Ten Commandments. But no. If we learn to love, as He does, we will fulfill all the law – meaning we will be right with all men and with God, but it won’t work without love! Love came on Earth to teach us how to love! God would never call us to do what is impossible to do! But everything that He calls us to do is impossible to do without Him. That is why He sends us the helper! To help us to submit our flesh, our minds, and our thoughts to Him. The Church is changing from glory to glory, faith to faith, surrendering to surrendering. But those who cannot surrender cannot be changed! This is what yielding of our hearts and life produce: a divine relationship, a becoming one, an abiding in Him.

Now let’s look at our master in the passage of John 13:1-13. We saw Jesus washing the disciples’ feet but He knew the intention of the heart of men even though He was not moved by what He saw in the natural. He knew that “some are clean but not all”.  He said, “You call me master,” but He knew they were just saying that… It was like He knew: “You said, I love you, Jesus, but you are just saying that…” We do that all the time! See? We know the Word, but we just know it. The moment we become doers of it, that makes us happier, that turns us into His real disciple. If we are not a doer, we are still obeying our own justice, our feelings, and our thoughts, but happy are you if you practice, obey, and apply what you know. But with all sincerity and desire, we want to love Him. We say it – I love you - as Peter did, but we cannot always do what we say. That is what brings us closer to Him. Look at this: “Who is the one that will betray You, Lord?” they asked. We need to understand this: Jesus, knowing all things, knowing all the prophecies written way before He was born in this world, the father and the son and the Holy Spirit are one so before anything was made, they were, so God sent the Word. Knowing Judas was the one, He still washed his feet. This takes a lot of humility. How many of us would do that knowing the betrayal is ahead?  How many of us would serve and love knowing someone was about to steal from us, cheat on us, or even conspire to set us up and murder us? That is the kind of love that manifests the glory of God. That is the kind of love that Jesus loves us with. He loves us because of His obedience towards the Father. “Vengeance belongs to the Lord” (Romans 12:19). Jesus knew that He could not defend Himself. He let the Father deal with Judas. His part was just to love.

We must make sure that we don’t become the judges for God. Jesus did not curse Judas or tell him that he was going to hell. He just loved him all the way to the end. When the prophets were prophesying about Jesus being slain, Jesus was already slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). So, what was is and what will come has already been seen. When the prophets prophesied about the church, the church already existed before the foundation of the world.  “Let’s create man…” (Genesis 1:26-28). Because Jesus was, and is, and is to come. Everything that was done, was done before the foundation of the world. Jesus was, is, and is to come! The church was, is, and is to come! The beginning and the end. The alpha and omega! Time ends but eternity is forever. Right now, we are just walking out what is already written! Where am I in the timeline of God? Where am I in the abundance of prophecies? God created time. He created man and made a nation, but He is in eternity, so every prophecy spoken in time, God already saw every prophecy spoken. God already saw and sees, so this should give us great hope!

God gave us our own will, now it is up to you to choose: obey His will or your will? Remember, the one you bow to is your God. Pure religion is this: to go to the orphans and widows and keep yourself separated from the world (James 1:27). If you are connected to darkness, darkness will manifest through you. If you are connected to Him, you will manifest Him. We should bear fruits all the time (Ezekiel 47:12). In season and out of season! How come? Because we are connected to heaven, and in heaven, there is no high or low season. There is no season at all. We can do all things, not through us, but through Him - the tree of life, the author of life, the steward of Him!

God knows the life of everybody. He knew the life of Judas. Everybody has a book. There is a book of remembrance (Malachiah 3:16), every idle word, everything we do is written, it is paid attention to! Everything is documented. Nothing was hidden. Still, Jesus Christ washed Judas’ feet, demonstrating the Kingdom of God. Jesus was very consistent, but there is something He said that was pinnacle to the kingdom and was something even more than the law and the prophets ever said. As people are trying to mix the law in with the gospel, they are destroying the works of the cross and disannulling the high level of the words of life that was to come and to change the world. The same enemies of Jesus and the cross are the same enemies today that are saying they know more than Christ. Saying the love God but hate those around them.

Before supper, they asked Jesus about the greatest commandment, and Jesus in John 13:34 said, “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” This is epic. Not many catch this portion of revelation: “I give you a NEW COMMANDMENT.” What Jesus was about to say was something never heard before. He was getting ready to talk about A NEW COMMANDMENT: To love one another AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. He wanted them to love one another, not the way they wanted, but the way THEY SAW HIM LOVING ONE ANOTHER! Not the way of the old covenant when a neighbor was only a Jew. Why does he want us to love like He loves? Because if we do, we prove that we are His disciples. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (verse 35). We have been discipled by love! We have been trained to love like He does. Not loving like others love you, not loving like the world loves, not loving just by words. If we love with the real love of Jesus, that shows power. It is easy to love people that love you, but He said A NEW COMMANDMENT…

It is not a suggestion, it is not an opinion, it is a COMMANDMENT! And it is A NEW COMMANDMENT. What great love is this? Do you know that the Jews had a commandment of love, but they were separated from others and they were speaking of fellow Jews? Then this carpenter – son of man – comes on the scene saying, “Love your enemies” and “bless those that curse you,” (Matthew 5:44). So according to the law, an eye for an eye (Exodus 21:24) just got changed, debunked, and removed! So, this was a New Commandment for sure.

Who is my neighbor? (Luke 10:25-37) …And Jesus gave them a beautiful parable. They knew the letter, they knew the law, but did not know the giver of the law. They had the approval of men, but not of God. The unclean, the Samaritan on the side of the road, was the one that was standing in righteousness with God. So many people and Christians know how to sing, to pray, and to preach but they don’t know how to love. They don’t lay down their lives for one another. Peter promised Jesus that he would lay down his life for Jesus. Jesus went after the denier; He went after Peter (John 21). He did not get mad at him. He did not say, “Peter, I knew it. I knew you would deny me.” God is raising a Church that will make the choice to love like Jesus does. Peter tried to do it but in his own strength. So go, go and lay down your life towards the ones that are hard to love. The Holy Spirit will teach you to bless those who hate you and to pray for those who misuse you. That is when the power manifested. That is when you prove yourself as His disciple. He said, “They will know you are My disciple by this love and loving one another as I do.” How can you love the lost if you cannot love the found?

Peter said, “I love you”, “I love you”, “I love you.” But then Jesus said, “Peter, feed my sheep, do what I say, go where I tell you. That is how you prove how you love Me, Peter. You thought you could love Me apart from Me. But you can’t. The moment that fire in your life got hot, you Peter, you denied the Word, you deny the cross, you deny dying with Me and for Me.” But dying with Him is when the power manifests! Peter felt the fire getting hot and wanted to cut off the ear of the soldier (John 18:10-11). This was the kind of man that Jesus wanted, a man of passion, but God through Jesus wanted to teach him how to love. God loved his tenacity, but that tenacity must have to submit to learning to love like He does, to obey the New Commandment, which results in a love as 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 mentions.  Love endures all bad things. Are you tired of failing? Start perfecting love in your life. What greater love does one have than this: to lay down his life for his friend, for his enemies? Jesus actually did that, too. He lay down His life for the sake of His enemies and for the sake of the entire world. This type of love never fails. When you become love, you will never fail.

Jesus was saying, “Ok, you know the law. Now let me manifest the law to you in My own body. You may know the law, but you don’t know Me.” Jesus said in Matthew 5:43-45, you have heard it before…but I want you to love as I have loved you. “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you: That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

I don’t want to be a child of Abraham. I want to be a child of God. Before Abraham was, Christ was. Before Abraham was, love was. We know that we can be co-partakers of His divine nature, of His divine love, of the impossible! If I love like He does, I am His child! This is the proof! Your love proves who is your father. Can you see it? This is the commandment; this is the NEW COMMANDMENT! Before the foundation of the world, God had His church in His mind. We are a representation of what was written about. Christ is your Abraham, Christ is your Joseph, Christ is your Noah, Christ is your Moses. He is our Redeemer.

Under the law, we could pay back in case you were trespassed (Luke 6:27-40). But here comes Jesus saying “not anymore”. They pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done”, do you want that? Start loving like Christ! You want the power to come, start loving like Christ! Be children of the highest! We want to provoke this spirit that is killing the Church right now: the religious spirit! Some of us need some of God’s love in our lives. Start giving it and He will give love back to you. The same measure you give shall be given unto you!

If we are in Christ, love is in us (John 17:21-26). For the world to know that Christ has sent you, you need to love! If I am in Him, love is in me! Perfected in unity, perfected in love! Where is He? Wherever He is, so shall we be. He is rooted and grounded in love (Ephesians 3:17-19) So we must be dead to reaction, dead to paying back, dead to the flesh, dead to evil for evil! If you avoid people instead of dealing with people, love has not been perfected in you. Let this mind be in you as it is in Christ (Ephesians 5:2-11). Let this love that is in Christ be in you! This is how I said they will know you are from me. This is what I said when I said they will know my disciples by how they love one another.

“This NEW COMMANDMENT I give to you, even as I have given to you Judas, Peter. I have washed your feet.” Now it is your turn! Jesus loved His betrayer, loved His enemies! “O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:25-26)

Let love manifest this fruit. Don’t just say, “I love you” but love. The Father says, “Let me see it. Because when I see, the world will see it and the world will know that you are My disciples, that we are one!” The seed of love is inside of us because when Christ came, love came in and took over, even as a tiny seed!  Let this ONE COMMANDMENT be manifested in our lives. Let this NEW COMMANDMENT be seen in our lives. Let it be the one we obey and follow all the days of our lives. If you want to experience this real love, if you want to love with this real love, just receive this love, this real love, right now! Know this love. Experience this love. Live this love. Give this love. A new commandment He is giving to us: to love as He loves us. And let us by the power of His blood and of His cross, in sincerity say and prove to one another, “I love you.”
