THE WAY OUT

Repentance is the way out of every situation. Repentance brings us into relationship to change us. Who has told you that Jesus is coming and if you don’t repent you will end up in hell? Very few. There are very few voices crying out in the wilderness. There will be no life in the works of the flesh. John the Baptist, when he was preaching and facing the Pharisees and Sadducees, never said, “Guys, I know you are a brood of vipers but good news is on the way – Jesus is coming and I am here to share the Good news.” No. What He said was, “Who has been preaching to you? Who has been warning you about the wrath to come?” Wow. We see two different styles: We see people begging people to come and be involved in their events and social clubs, and we see someone crying in the wilderness with the Spirit of Elijah. The true messenger of God has gone to the churches of today and to the highways and byways. Today, they are not allowed to speak what is coming and what is expected. Instead, in that no one is being challenged to change, all are enticed to follow false doctrines or false inspiration that contradict the real Gospel . Time is short and liars are growing in multitudes. It’s time to come out of Babylon.

The biggest distraction comes from Christians quoting scriptures out of context. One scripture cannot get us saved! We need the whole counsel of God to get saved and to work out our salvation until He comes. Not earn it but walk it out. There is a big difference. One is a relationship; one is a religion or belief system.

There are false teachings on repentance that come from the false grace teaching that promises a one-time changing of your mind. The Spirit and the Word always bear witness. God takes the axes and chops down all the roots. He told us to bear fruits of repentance. When you need to repent, God turns up the fire to burn away everything that needs to be burned like the chaff. This takes a lifestyle of change, commitment, and repentance.

Bring therefore fruits – of repentance. There are fruits that go along with repentance. Repentance brings growth. You start thinking, “What did I do? What did I say? When did I break your commandments?”

People that don’t repent start hating the Truth. They don’t want to hear Truth. The process goes in this order: Truth - Repentance – Freedom. People think they repent but there are no fruits. Once in the darkness, repentance brings you back to light. Once God received you because you repented as an old man sinning all the time. Now that you are received by Him, you must keep this lifestyle. So you are born again, now you are converted. Now you are being raised up by the Holy Spirit and the Word. This is the process of restoring your soul and renewing your mind. See, people hate the process. They want quick fix, a fast and easy way, but narrow is the way. Let’s put it this way: we are saved; now we are on the narrow path; now we must stay on God’s sidewalk. Then, there is Satan saying come this way. It’s broad, you can, you are saved.

The sweet spot of God is the will of God. But we take His grace and mercy for granted. Some people don’t know what they did wrong. But some do, and they still don’t repent. Repentance is not being mad or upset about what you did. Because that is part of confession. Your whole being is not in agreement with it. But that does not mean that you have repented. They give place to the devil in that. But with repentance, the Holy Spirit put Jesus in that place that was once for the devil. It is a total shift from darkness to light, from walking away from God to walking to God and with God. So many places in the Bible confirm that we have 100 percent part in this transition and in this process. This is what it means to work out your own salvation. So it is all about you doing your part. It is us yielding to a God that is our Father who corrects us and perfects us. If this is not happening, the Bible says we are bastards then. Also, it uses terms like reprobates to the faith, false brethren, and on and on.

Repentance does not erase the consequences of our sins in the natural (or carnal) but brings us joy and peace in the Spirit as we make our turn to the path of righteousness. First there is repentance unto salvation that acknowledging God and the need for His mercy change our eternal consequences of sin. Then a lifestyle of repentance. We must have it in our lives to perfect holiness. Without the fear of God, you will never have a lifestyle of repentance. Without repentance, old things will never pass away.

Jonah became just like them whom He was suppose to preach to because he would not tell them to repent. He had to repent for not telling them to repent. When we disobey God, we just feel bad about what we did. But when Godly sorrow comes, it must turn repentance into action. There is the fruit of it manifesting: doing what God told you to do is a true fruit of it, not feeling bad about it.

God will comfort those who are cast down. The humble ones. Go knowing who and what He is to the throne of grace, knowing that grace is there available for you all the time. You need to be encouraged to repent. Because what you are going through is because you never repented. The Truth that we are bringing to you may make you sorry, but you still need to repent. Just being sorry does not justify the sin. Only the blood of Jesus can do that.

He seeks for fruits worthy of repentance. You may be feeling sorry all day long but that won’t change you. Sorrow is to bring you to repentance. Godly sorrow works in you repentance to salvation. Every time we repent, joy and peace comes. He is His presence and His reward is Him. That is why Jesus comes and calms the storm because there is repentance. The Holy Spirit washes you.

Fruits of repentance: no more Resentment, Bitterness, Anger, Hiding, Dryness, Loneliness; there is diligence, clearing of your self, of your mind, strong passion and desire to sin no more, and zeal concerning those things that are right. He wants us back to the Father’s house. Repentance gets us back there. Back to the garden. But lack of repentance keep us with the swine. You will always be defending yourself. You will always be on trial. Repentance will remove the fig leaves. Your disobedience brought you to your flesh, now God will need your flesh to submit to His spirit.

Man’s measure is not God’s measure. Some people wait to see the fruits of repentance one way and God is expecting something else. Only with the blood we have boldness. He hates sin and disobedience but He loves your faith in His power and His sacrifice.

Don’t get tired of repentance and don’t faint when He rebukes you. Endure because He is dealing with you as a son. He wants us to be partakers of His holiness. It does not feel joyful at the present time but afterward will produce in you the fruit of righteousness and peace. He is making the feeble knees strong. He is removing bitterness because that comes with the lack of repentance. Offense is the root of that.

Look at some in the Bible who never repented. Adam and Eve, Saul, Judas, and Jonah. When he finally did, he was at peace with God. God caused the storms in his life, just as a child of God when we disobey God. While disobeying, we infect our surroundings and even people that don’t have a relationship with God. It is serious stuff. False teachers want to motivate your soul in deception when all you need to do is repent.

Self-righteousness is a killer. People will think they don’t need to repent because of what others did to them or false grace preaching. On the cross, we lost all our rights. I am asking God to show us where we need to repent. He will point it out to you. And He will restore all things: the zeal for His house, for His presence, for His holiness. Father, put eye solvent on our eyes. And show us any rebellion in us, any areas that we have disobeyed. Show us everything that breaks your heart. We don’t want to wait for joy to come in the morning, but right now. Give us the Godly sorrow that leads us back to you and to the grace that comes with it. Take this hard heart and make it new.

We want to live in that number one place: that lifestyle of repentance. Immediately repenting! There is no one person that does not have the opportunity to repent. We don’t want to be weary in our fellowship and obedience unto perfection but we want the bond of peace and with all longsuffering live by the Spirit. Our hearts must be clean with one another all the time. I don’t care what the goats and wolves do out there, but concerning the sheep of His pasture, I want to live in peace and make amendments for the sake of the Kingdom of God and for your sake, Father. Let it be done. Your will, your ways, and your Truth. Give us clean hands and a pure heart. Lead us away from any other liar that makes us stop repenting, changing, and being made new. Let repentance be our way out, always. Shane W Roessiger
