The key to following the voice of the shepherd is staying in His righteous path, staying close. The sheep of God’s pasture should be able to recognize the voice of the shepherd. People say, “God said this, God said that” but it was not God. It was the voice of the stranger or the vain desires of their flesh. And because they are following the voice of the stranger, everything becomes chaos and confusion. The thief comes to steal our peace, joy, our time, and it exhausts us if we hear its voice. Discernment will help us to define what is of Him and of the thief. Jesus said if we love Him, we will follow Him, not the voice of the stranger. Not our will but His. Not our vainglory or the flesh and its lust. People don't get it. They will hear voices but those who follow His voice become and are His sheep.
The strange voices will try to tell you that the voice of God is not His. The devil and his mouthpieces call Jesus the devil all the time. They are calling the good shepherd the devil. They call the voice of God the voice of the stranger. In John chapter 10, they said it was the devil, but it was Jesus who was saying they will not follow this voice. So not everyone dressed for the part is what it looks like that Jesus is so sincere of the fruit of the connection.
Let’s go from the beginning about hearing voices. In the garden, they heard the voice of God in the cool of the day. When we begin to hear other voices, we begin to follow fear because fear is the absence of God. Adam heard God’s voice and was afraid to show up. He was naked and tried to cover himself up with leaves. This is what happens when we disobey His voice and begin to follow strange voices. We come out of His presence because Adam followed Eve’s voice who followed the serpent’s voice all to fulfill the lust of the flesh. So they left the glory for the fig leaves because the strange voice makes you ashamed and condemns you!
People are putting on fig leaves when they give excuses. Adam tried to divert his sin and blamed Eve. Diversion again. Eve blamed the devil. Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. Don’t give excuses when you follow the voice of the stranger, just repent. Because you really know you are following a lie if you follow your own desires that are not from Him.
Whenever we eat from the lies of Satan, we put ourselves back in a cursed environment. But we don’t have to stay there. We have the gift of Grace and repentance and the blood of Jesus. The voices of the strangers can be your own voice, your own lust, flesh, and desires. When we follow our own voices, we fulfill the lust of our self. Don’t get so far away from Him or His voice that you will get more and more distant. Your voice will start sounding like God’s voice if you don’t repent as soon as possible. This is how deception actually takes roots, a continued rebellion to Truth. This is how religion is replaced with communion.
A lot of times, God is watching you and checking what you would do when you are enticed by your own self. The strange voice became the wife’s voice. Adam listened to her instead of what God told him. We can be in the blessing and fall out of the blessings for listening to our own desires. Then we are in a negative agreement with lies because of the lust we desired.
First Satan said, “You won't surely die,” but God said the opposite. Die from what? From the blessings. Die from that intimacy with Him. Die from communion with Him. In Eve’s eyes, the fruit looked good. Pleasant for the eye. Her eyes caused her to sin. Eve was unsubmissive to God’s order. But instead of facing it, they both were ashamed because of disobedience. They knew that was not Gods voice but the temptation was too great.
When you are led by the Spirit, there is always a fire leading the way. We are burning for something. Fire by night, always present. Strange fire is the counterfeit fire of God. The serpent in the garden can entice us with the lust of our belly. Once we give in to our lust, sin is conceived. We keep making sacrifices for our flesh, giving in to it. So this is why God wants us to walk in the Spirit. In the Spirit, there is no confusion or witchcraft and divination.
When you get away from the Word of God, you start giving up and follow your own desire. People all the time pretend they are following His Word, but they are really worshiping themselves because they follow heresies and doctrines of devils created by strange voices taking scripture out context to fit their own way.
It is divination. Every time you follow strange fire and strange voices that is what you are practicing. It sounds heavenly but it is not. Micaiah will never speak to you what you want. Micaiah will not feed divination or be in agreement with any of that. Divination comes out of vanity. Jezebel is the queen of divination. She does whatever she wants and brings strange fire through all her prophets. Strange fire comes from strange voices, soothsaying, prophesying to the flesh, not to the spirit.
The main reason for someone being led by divination is that it brings profit to themselves. Divination can say the Truth, but it comes from a lying source. Satan used twisted Truth to entice Eve and trick her. Jezebel will drown out Ahab’s voice so he could not speak for God. The woman practicing divination was trying to do the same when Paul was preaching. Read in Acts 16:16.
You could be doing the right thing but be wrong because it has a vanity motivation. Those who are being led by God may be seen as controlling, and they will think, “Why don’t you take care of your own business?” Distraction is the fruit of divination. Strange voices try to replace God’s voices, but in the Spirit there is peace and love.
One Body. One Spirit. One voice. In the counsel of many, there is wisdom. That is why God said don’t put people in the ministry fast – laying hands on them – because they may not be ready. We wait on the Spirit. Even if God reveals to the Body who you are, we need to wait on Him. If we are not submitted to the will of God, we are submitting to ourselves. In that, there is much striving. Then we begin to do what most do: a work of the flesh to maintain something that only God can maintain!
When discernment is among us, we can hear His voice. His sheep hear His voice. His sheep hear the voice of the stranger, recognize it but will not follow it. Sheep are submitted to the shepherd. They don’t have hidden agendas. They are just happy to follow the shepherd. They don’t want to run off because they love the shepherd. God will not let any sheep hear any man’s voice unless you are not following the shepherd. God will not have that either. So if the man is led by the shepherd then God will use His voice. If the man is not then you, a sheep, for that reason trust the shepherd.
Those who walk in the Spirit will not fulfill any lust of your self. If you are following the strange voice, your own voice, they will be in distress.
Crucify the affections. The strange voice gets its voice through lust and desire. Let us not desire any vainglory. Jezebel is the god of seduction. She gets what she wants to promote her agenda. She wants to do things her own way.
“Oh, I can trust man…” but if you are submitted to God, God will bring people to your life that will help you. But only in humility, we will work out the submission of God. Divination is attracting someone by someone’s desire. Many prophets have lying spirits, and they are speaking over many. That is the voice of the stranger.
“God, help your Body, your people, to hear your voice. If our flesh is under submission, the lust of the flesh will die. The only way to be out of fear is to be in His perfect love. Thank you, Father, because you have a government and a system to protect us and help us grow and that will help us to hear your voice. If we are your sheep, we have no fear. You are a great and mighty shepherd of our lives. Help us to bury our will all the way to the cross.”
